Dear Oaks Country Club Family:
As most of you are aware, we invested a significant amount of capital into our pool last year. The pool house and associated bathrooms really turned out nice. This year, we've identified a Pool Director early and she is going to do a great job. I'm sure you will will see Emerson Grogan around all summer and she's ready to get things rolling. Our collective goal is to get the pool open early this year!
Our golf course maintenance team is going to work hard this year on bringing us a great product. Dead trees have been removed, winter debris is cleared and our greens are coming along well to include the expanded greens. We want our course to be inviting to all our members and the guests that come and visit so there will be a focus this year of not only improving our playability but also improving the aesthetics of our course. Along with mowing fairways and rough, small touches such as changing tee box and cup positions every three days as well as keeping bunkers raked and pitch marks policed will be our priority but you can lend a helping hand, too, by policing up after your shots or encouraging those in your group to do the same. People at other local courses are hearing about our successes and are talking about us in a good way! Just so you know, the board voted to redo the senior tees on Hole #10. Just giving you warning and we appreciate your patience as we upgrade the club.
Personally, I am so proud to see the number of Junior Golfers we have out on the course, more than I've ever seen over the past 10 years. That's great for golf. Let's encourage our children to take up this lifelong sport that brings enjoyment to generations from Baby Boomers to Gen Z and beyond! For those that like tournaments, we're putting together a schedule to bring us back together to get those competitive juices flowing and just have some great fun and share comaraderie.
I want all of you to be proud of Oaks Country Club. It is the link that brings us all together. By the way, if you have a certain talent you want to bring to the table or if you just want to volunteer to help at Oaks Country Club in some capacity, please let me know. We live by our volunteers!
Sincerely,
Jerry Penner
